It has been my privilege to hear Dr. Joni speak on several occasions. In the spring of 2017, I invited Dr. Joni to share invaluable information on the topic, “Overview of Diagnosing ADHD.” She spoke to the assembled group, almost entirely composed of parents of children with ADHD, in an informal, warm, approachable manner. Dr. Joni permitted questions throughout, so attendees were able to gain clarity on many issues before more information was shared. Every time I have heard Dr. Joni speak she has been enthusiastically received, and I would enthusiastically recommend her to any group interested in learning more about behavioral health issues.

I met Dr. Joni through a mutual friend and we hit it off immediately. Her background is what drew me to her. She is a true leader and I found myself drawn to her energy. I work as a graduate business professor for Strayer University and I had asked Dr. Joni to be a guest speaker for several of my classes. Her background and expertise go well with the topics we cover in class. She covered topics like Effective Team Concepts in the Workplace and Obstacles to Effective Communication. Of her topics, the most favored was her discussion about the 5 Languages of Appreciation in the Workplace, a book written by Gary Chapman. Her talk was so outstanding that I often refer to that book in classes she hasn’t been a guest speaker in yet. I love that she introduced my graduate students to that concept. In addition, as a business owner, she has been able to coach many of my students about starting their own businesses. Dr. Joni provides valuable information every time she is a guest speaker for my students and I truly appreciate being able to say that we are not only colleagues but also great friends.

Dr. Joni Johnson is a warm, poised, knowledgeable speaker on a variety of topics. She has been a welcome guest speaker at The Arc of Greater Prince William for several years, presenting on ADHD, autism, or sometimes a combination of the two. Attendees always find her presentations helpful and informative, giving her the highest ratings on evaluations. Dr. Johnson also graciously volunteers her time and expertise at our annual Circle of Support Conference held in November each year. Here is what some of the attendees have said:

Thank you so much for being a workshop presenter at our Jack and Jill of America, Inc. Eastern Region Southern Cluster in October of 2017! I had a chance to speak with several members and they were so pleased to know they aren’t alone in needing support for their child. There were lots of ah-ha moments in the room. Some mothers cried tears of joy about solutions they never knew existed. We hope you can come back again there wasn’t enough time. Thank you for all you do for children in the DMV area.

I was referred to Dr. Joni Johnson two years ago as a community-involved medical professional in Northern Virginia that may be willing to present the CDC concussion information to parents and coaches at our Youth Football Camp in the Fredericksburg/Stafford area. In our conversation, I learned that not only was she a Medical Doctor, specializing in Pediatric Medicine, but that she was a mother of a child that plays football as well as a team mom/cheerleader/doctor for youth sports teams.
Dr. Joni presented the 10-minute concussion presentation to more than 125 people that attended the Parent Information Session and I noticed how well she engaged the entire audience and communicated the concussion information at a level of parent understanding. She also has contributed to the Kids & Pros organization to help provide a free camp for the 250+ kids attending each year. Thank you Dr. Joni for your passion to help children and their parents and for your partnership with Kids & Pros. |
