My Blue Eyes: Viewing the World Through an Atypical Lens
Experiences are shaped by the perspective from which they are viewed. In My Blue Eyes you will view the world through an “atypical” lens, one that doesn’t always conform to what society expects. Dr. Joni Johnson is a learning-disabled physician who shares her educational journey through many trials, tribulations and obstacles that eventually lead her to  finding her passion. My Blue Eyes is about recognizing the differences in each of us and being empowered by the beauty that is not always as obvious as blue eyes.

I thought My Blue Eyes was intriguing and vulnerable.  While using her own personal experiences with learning disabilities, Dr. Joni is able to highlight all of the facets of what life is like for those who have that super power of ADHD and other so called learning differences.  After reading Dr. Joni's book I became aware and inspired to do more research on my own about hidden dimensions of diversity.

A lightbulb went off, after reading, My Blue Eyes: Viewing the World Through an Atypical Lens. I felt seen, valued, and heard as a neurodiverse person with ADHD. Like many in the book, I can be hyper-focused, while seamlessly multi-tasking. I saw myself and others through gripping anecdotes that validated my "Is it me or..." experiences. More importantly, Dr. Johnson demonstrated how success is possible for all - even those who've been discounted or underestimated. This is a "must read" - for anyone wanting to understand neurodiversity and why advocacy is crucial to success!
